During the second EU-Africa Summit in 2007, strong commitments were made by African and EU leaders “to build a strategic political partnership overcoming the traditional donor-recipient relationship …’’.  In order to track the progress made towards this objective, the Europe Africa Policy Research Network (EARN) agreed the outline for a report to track progress on global issues of common interest (beyond development aid) at a meeting on 7-8 June. Due to be published prior to the third EU-Africa Summit in November, the EARN report will identify achievements and missed opportunities in the three years between the Summits and the potential for joining forces in key areas such as governance and human rights, trade and development and peace and security. Any suggestions?
